Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism, and Presbyopia: Understanding These 4 Vision Conditions

July 14, 2017

Having clear, comfortable vision is underrated! At Northlake Eye, we LOVE helping people see and feel their best. With this in mind, below is a recap of the 4 most common visual conditions we see :)

Myopia (nearsightedness)

Myopia is a vision condition that causes distances objects to appear blurry while near objects often remain clear. Watch the video below for more information.

Hyperopia (farsightedness)

Hyperopia is a vision condition where objects up close appear blurry (or challenging to focus on) while distance objects often remain clear. Watch the video below for more information.

Astigmatism is a vision condition that can lead to blurry or distorted vision at any distance. Watch the video below for more information.

Presbyopia is the natural loss of your eyes focusing ability over time. It typically occurs around age 40. Watch the video below for more information.

Now that you know more about the 4 most common vision conditions we see, why don't you get your eyes examined? All of these conditions can be easily corrected using glasses and/or contact lenses!

During your eye exam, our doctors will gladly go through the process of evaluating your eye health AND vision.
