Did you know that Dr. Daniel Helin is an OSU Buckeye that loves running, hiking, ice hockey, and golf? With this in mind, below are 5 questions to get to know Dr. Daniel Helin.
1) Why did you become an optometrist?
From a young age, the medical field interested me greatly. I knew I wanted to be a doctor in the field but was unsure of which mode of practice. I received a job at the Havener Eye Institute and was blown away by the intricacies of the eye. With my interest in business and the eventual goal of owning a practice, optometry was the perfect option for me.
2) What inspired you to practice in Charlotte?
Growing up in Ohio, living in the south was always a goal of mine. The weather, city, and close proximity to water was the perfect option for me. A majority of my family also lives in the area, making it a good opportunity to lay roots down.
3) What is your favorite thing about being an eye doctor?
My favorite thing about being an eye doctor is being able to solve a patient’s issue like a puzzle. Seeing the joy on patients’ faces when you are able to find out and fix something that has been causing them issues for a long time is truly rewarding. Even if they do not have the words to describe what is going on.
4) What do you feel makes Northlake Eye different?
The environment created by the optometrists and staff truly makes Northlake feel at home!
5) What do you like to do when you're not seeing patients?
I enjoy being active by running and hiking, playing golf and ice hockey, and exploring the different areas in beautiful North Carolina. As a big foodie as well, new restaurants are often explored too!
