Professional Statement:

Dr. Rachael Wruble sees the eye as a piece of the puzzle – interconnected to the rest of the body. So a problem with the eye can be a result of a problem with the body. She wanted to be a part of a practice where exams are not just about the eye, but a part of the comprehensive care of the entire patient. Establishing a personal relationship with her patients is also important to her, co-founding Northlake Eye was a perfect fit.


Her optometric areas of interest have focused on ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and low vision. 

Her advanced training in these areas includes:

Personal Statement: 

Dr. Ryan Corte was born and raised in Novi, MI where he attended Novi High School. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Nutritional Science in 2008. He also attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry where he graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2012.


Dr. Corte completed an Optometric Residency in eye disease and primary eye care at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2013. During his residency, he obtained advanced clinical competency to practice optometry at the highest level as well as provided educational assistance and supervision of third and fourth-year students as a clinical faculty member. 


In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Corte has contributed to optometry through multiple leadership roles. He is passionate about clear, concise patient education and is the founder of Dr. Corte is a former Executive President of the American Optometric Student Association and is currently serving on the Young ODs and Membership committee of the North Carolina Optometric Society Optometric. He was also a senior journalist for and is a co-founder of


Dr. Corte truly enjoys engaging with his community and looks forward to remaining very active throughout his professional career. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife, family and friends as well as continuing to stay active in his community and in life.



Dr. Brad Wruble was born and raised in Harbor Beach, MI. He completed his Bachelor degree in Vision Science in 2005 followed by his Doctorate of Optometry Cum Laude from Michigan College of Optometry in 2009.


Dr. Brad moved down to Belmont in 2010 following his residency in ocular disease at the Wilmington VA Hospital in Delaware. He completed his Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry in 2011.


Family eye care, pediatric vision, ocular pathology and contact lenses are all areas Dr. Brad is an expert in.


He met Dr. Rachael at orientation weekend of Optometry School and they have been together ever since. They have two beautiful children, Lucy & Lily.


In his free time, he enjoys running, watching Detroit sports, college football, college basketball and enjoying the outdoors.


Dr. Brad has helped coach local basketball leagues and he is active with his church, Queen of Apostles in Belmont.


Currently, Brad serves as a Board Member for the Montcross Chamber of Commerce and volunteers with Gaston Family Health Services.

Dr. Steven Kotsokalis was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. He attended South Mecklenburg High School and graduated in 2008. Dr. Kotsokalis graduated from North Carolina State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where he graduated with clinical honors and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016. His passion for eye care led him to complete a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center from 2016-2017. His optometric areas of interest have focused on the management of ocular disease and specialty contact lenses.


In his free time, Dr. Kotsokalis enjoys exploring the outdoors, weight-lifting, biking, and spending time with his wife and german shepherd.
