Did you know that Dr. Floy Kampe is an Asheville native that loves cooking, photography, flower gardening, and spending time with her family? With this in mind, below are 5 questions to get to know Dr. Floy Kampe.
1) Why did you become an optometrist?
I was a biology major at Wake Forest and though I really liked science and the idea of medicine, I do not like blood! I am a very detail-orientated person and the precision of optometry intrigued me. I enjoy spending time with people one on one and being very attentive to their individual needs. Optometry has proven to be a great fit!
2) What inspired you to practice in Asheville?
I grew up in south Asheville, am a graduate of TC Roberson High School, and truly enjoy living and working in the community I grew up in. I love to see the business people, teachers, and families that I knew growing up as well as the neighbors, teachers, and families of the kids my children have grown up with. It's been wonderful to see this area grow and change so much over the years, but also to know that so many of the people are still the same.
3) What is your favorite thing about being an eye doctor?
My favorite thing about being an eye doctor is when my patients come back year after year and tell me how happy they were with the glasses or contacts they have been wearing, that they could see the best they have ever seen and that they always feel like they get the best exams when they come to see me. It's always rewarding to have referrals and happy patients!
4) What do you feel makes Northlake Eye different?
What makes Northlake Eye different to me is the genuine sense of wanting to make a difference. It truly feels like the practice is built around loyalty, giving the best patient care possible, for both vision and eye health needs of each individual patient.
5) What do you like to do when you're not seeing patients?
When I am not with patients, I enjoy reading, cooking, photography, and flower gardening. I especially enjoy time with my family, watching baseball, and being a dance mom!
